Amanda Hummel and The Bee's Knees
Amanda has lived in Columbia County her whole life, as has her family for many generations, and she is very fond of the area. She is passionate about children, the way they grow and learn through play, and about parents and parenting, and education. She also finds importance in supporting the community, being environmentally conscious and shopping locally.
Amanda taught elementary school for almost a decade before deciding it was time for a change. For years she had entertained the idea of opening a children's store on Warren Street in Hudson. Finally with the help of her husband and tons of support and love from family and friends, The Bee's Knees was born.
We strive to offer healthy products for pregnancy and infancy, developmentally appropriate toys (with no batteries) for babies and children, eco-friendly and organic items, quality clothing, unique locally made items, and a space for parents and families to come together in our community room.
It's the bee's knees of a store!
Shop dog Pixie prides herself on being half miniature poodle and half a mix of collie, dachshund, cocker spaniel and muppet. She is a sweet girl whose fan club frequently stops in to find her laying on the counter, ready to say hello.
